through EITC

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is helping low-income families that qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) save money. United Way is partnering with the Greater Bridgeport Family Economic Security Coalition to bring a mobile VITA program to local businesses. IBM Computers Help Kids Learn
For the second year in a row, United Way has been a recipient of the IBM Technology Grant. This year’s program provided six Young Explorer Computer Systems which were provided to Alpha Community Services for their family homeless shelters, Operation Hope’s Family Homeless Shelter, Mercy Learning Center and Stratford Parents’ Place.

Bridgeport Alliance for Mentoring Needs Your Help
United Way of Eastern Fairfield County is partnering with the Bridgeport Alliance for Mentoring (BAM) to encourage mentoring in the greater Bridgeport area. BAM is a group of providers of mentoring services who have come together through the Governor's Prevention Partnership’s Urban Mentoring Initiative to increase the number of mentors for children at risk, increase the capacity of existing mentoring programs and develop new mentoring programs and models to address any gaps in service, and identify and leverage additional mentoring resources.
