COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTS
- General
Electrics and Sikorsky Aircraft employee
campaigns each totaled more than $1.2 million.
- Peoples
Bank ran its first electronic employee campaign
and raised more than $900,000.
- Aquarion
Company campaign a 17% increase.
- Cadbury
Schweppes employee campaign increased for the
second year in a row and included a company match.
- Fairfield
Public Schools finished at the top of its class
with a 20% increase.
- Fairfield
University boosted its campaign to $30,000.
- Bullard
Havens employee campaign increased 100%.
New companies who joined the Community Campaign this year
include Electric Heater/Super Seal, Cyclone Car
Wash, Anthony Julian Railroad Construction, Fetzer Tire,
Millward Brown International, U. S. Baird, William B.
Meyer and New Horizons Computer Learning
Center.
- Roger
Ludlowe Middle School Student Council organized
a school dance to raise funds to benefit the September
11th Fund.
- The
Total Look Salon of Fairfield organized a Cut-a-thon
to benefit the September 11th Fund.
- Six
new members have joined the Alexis de Tocqueville
Society, individual who give $10,000 or more.
- 56
new givers joined the Signature Club
by making a leadership gift of $1,000 or more.
- Among
member agencies ran internal United Way Community Campaigns,
the largest increase was Hall Neighborhood House
followed by Cardinal Sheehan, The Center for Women
and Families, and the YMCAs.
- United
Parcel Service exceeded its goal by conducting
its annual raffle and a golf tournament raising more than
$20,000 through special events.
- Fairfield
County Labor Council hosted the Connecticut United
Motorcycle Ride, which generated nearly $10,000 in addition
to their annual contribution to Fairfield County United
Ways.
- Bridgeport
Fittings demonstrated their community commitment
by matching funds raised through their employee campaign
with a matching corporate contribution.
- Bead
Industries and Owens Brockway
both had 20% increases in their employee campaigns.
- Zeldes,
Needle & Cooper led the way in the Business
Firms Division with an increase of 14%.
- Department
of Mental Health was up 15% from last year.
- Monroe
Post Office had a tremendous year with an increase
of 25%.
