UNITED WAY HONORING THE REGION'S MOST
VALUED VOLUNTEERS MARCH 10

FEATURING HONORED GUEST DR. CLAIRE GAUDIANI

BRIDGEPORT, CT - (February 18, 2005) United Way of Eastern Fairfield County will honor 26 community volunteers at the 2005 Celebration of Community Builders, March 10 at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport. A special presentation will be made Dr. Claire Gaudiani, author of The Greater Good: How Philanthropy Drives the American Economy and Can Save Capitalism.

The annual Celebration of Community Builders is an opportunity for area residents, service providers and business leaders to meet and say "thank you!" to volunteers representing more than two dozen local agencies. The public is invited to the event - which begins at 5:30pm - and admission is free when accompanied by a donation in any amount to a local charity of choice.

At the Celebration, United Way also ratifies its slate of officers, presents the annual Spirit of Caring Awards, and presents its own volunteer of the year with the prestigious Norman Leeds Award. This year's Leeds award is going to John A. Klein, president and CEO of People's Bank, Bridgeport.

Anyone interested in attending the Celebration of Community Builders can download a reservation form from United Way's website: www.thewaytocare.org. All reservations received (along with a donation) by March 1 will have their tickets sent in advance. Reservations received (with or without donations) after March 1 will be held at the Klein for distribution the night of the event.

United Way of Eastern Fairfield County is in the business of building a stronger, more caring community across Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. Our focus is on what matters. Research and experience tells us that the best way to help the most people is to focus on the root causes of the most serious problems. It takes the whole community - working together- to make that happen. So we bring people together from all across the community - people from government, business, faith groups, nonprofits, and ordinary citizens- to tackle the issues that matter most. United Way is committed to the bottom line results: the lives we change and the communities we shape. Find out more at www.thewaytocare.org.
