Young Explorer Program Helps "Little Tikes"

Michelle Stearns, Volunteer Program Manager and volunteers Mark Ragsdale and Shahaad Musheer pick up the two computers for Operation Hope.

For the second year in a row, United Way has been a recipient of the IBM Technology Grant.  This year’s program provided six Young Explorer Computer Systems which were provided to Alpha Community Services for their family homeless shelters, Operation Hope’s Family Homeless Shelter, Mercy Learning Center and Stratford Parents’ Place.  The Young Explorer Computer Systems are designed for 4 to 7 year-old children.  The systems which help ready kids for school and practice their skills include a NetVista with special Kid Desk software pre-loaded, Little Tikes Desk, 17” monitor, special keyboard, powerstrip and speakers.
