When you give to United Way, we are committed to ensuring most of your charitable dollar investment reaches people in your communities who need it most. The Better Business Bureau recommends charities spend no more than 35 cents on administration! But at United Way of Eastern Fairfield County, we maximize resources so that more of your money goes to help people. In fact, less than 14 cents* of every dollar raised goes towards administrative and fundraising costs.

That's less than the national average for some of the most well-known and respected charities in the country.

One of the reasons we can keep our operating expense so low is because volunteers lend their time to make it work. Trained volunteers who know about the needs of the community, evaluate many local health and human service programs for effectiveness, efficiency, relevance to community priorities - real outcomes! They conduct site evaluations, determine program impact and review agency budgets. Thanks to this dedicated group of allocations volunteers, you can be sure that your contribution is a wise investment in your community.
