Ruth G. Price
Vice President/CRA Officer
RBS National Bank

Since 1963, United Way of Eastern Fairfield County staff has presented the prestigious Norman Leeds award to a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the Community Campaign. This annual award was created in memory of father and son, Norman Leeds, Sr., and Norman Leeds, Jr., both of whose leadership was instrumental in creating United Way of Eastern Fairfield County as we know it today. Norman Leeds, Sr., played a vital role in the founding of the Bridgeport Community Chest in 1921 and continued his strong support throughout the 1920's. In the 1950's and 1960's Norman Leeds, Jr., was very active in the United Fund of Eastern Fairfield County.

This year, United Way is pleased to honor Ruth G. Price with the 2006 Norman Leeds Award for her work in bringing the RBS National Bank corporate and employee campaign into the exclusive Chairman's Circle with a campaign increase of more than 100%!

Price, a community development professional, has expertise in affordable housing, small business development and urban policies and programs. As the community development officer for RBS National Bank, she is responsible for compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). Additionally, she is responsible for the RBS National Bank community relations program that responds to community needs in the Bridgeport - Stamford metropolitan area. To that end, Price assumed the chairmanship position for United Way of Eastern Fairfield County's Destination Home and has dedicated key RBS National Bank resources to help meet the initiative’s goals to end homelessness and to develop regional solutions to the wider housing crisis.

As Vice-President and CRA Officer of People's Bank from 1996 to 2004, Price accrued three "Outstanding" CRA ratings for the institution. She has been a featured speaker or panelist at state and national conferences on community reinvestment and community development. Price serves on the Board of Directors of Mutual Housing of Southwestern Connecticut, is on the Local Advisory Committee of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and is on the Advisory Committee of Family Assets, LLC, a subsidiary of FSW, Inc. Her previous experience includes working with charitable organizations and local authorities by providing assistance with housing and community development programs and projects in the US and UK. Moreover, she has held positions in both state and local government.

In 2003, Price received the United Way Community Builder Award and the Sterling Award from FSW, Inc. In 2004, she was honored with a Leadership Award from the Local Initiatives Support Coalition Local Advisory Committee.
